Unit of work PE/ Gymnastics 6 lessons for EYFS/ Reception on theme of positional vocabulary and travel. Each lesson is a step by step guide and includes, unit learning objectives (Key skills), timings, warmup, games, main teaching point, small apparatus handling, apparatus work and cool down. Lesson plan includes a blank column so you can put in your own clock times to keep track of lesson pace. This set of lessons focuses on teaching YR pupils positional vocabulary using small apparatus, benches and mats in a large space. Apparatus used – mats, hoops, cones, skipping ropes, benches. Two apparatus layout plans (optional) are included. Key skills by the end of the unit of work (6 lessons): Awareness of space, obstacles and other children. Respond to ‘stop’, ‘turn’, ‘change direction’ signals. Travel in different ways on floor and on apparatus. Travel ‘on’ and ‘off’, ‘under’ and ‘over’, ‘in’ and ‘out’ and ‘around’, ‘along’, ‘across’, ‘in between’ and ‘through’. Use the above positional vocabulary to describe their sequences. Take off and land correctly and safely. Lesson 1 On and off Lesson 2 Under and over Lesson 3 In, out and around Lesson 4 Along and across Lesson 5 Through and in between Lesson 6 Consolidation of lessons 1-5 and assessment. Lessons can be repeated to consolidate understanding.

KS1 bundle of 5 Halloween lessons/resources. 1. KS1 Powerpoint lesson. How to write a party invitation with a Halloween focus. A KS1 power-point of 14 slides which can be used as one lesson or extended over a longer period. There is a warm up, two activities and a final writing task. Included are examples of 2 invitations (birthday and Halloween party) for pupils to use in the lesson to spot the key features and help Lei correct his invitation (because no one has replied!). There are key questions to promote discussion and paired work. Also included is a simple invitation template for pupil use. Pupils can also use the important information/checklist to give paired feedback after writing their own invitation. 2. Halloween history and customs lesson of 34 slides. Includes activities and how to write a spell. 3. KS1 Set of 5 fun Halloween counting worksheets. Two worksheets x counting Halloween objects to 10, 1 worksheet each x counting to 15, 20 and 25. Each worksheet has a set of boxes at the bottom for pupils to write in their answers. 4. Set of 2 graded Halloween worksheets. Worksheet 1 - simple forward layout for hidden words. Worksheet 2 mix of up, down, f/w, b/w, diagonal layout. 5. Fun Halloween themed cut and stick make a monster activity. Template and sets of creepy features included.

Reception/Year 1 Pirate Treasure Map Reading activity linked to topic on pirates and seaside. Includes a blank treasure map, a key vocabulary mat and a set of 9 differentiated activity cards. Learning objectives ALL I must match pictures to the correct letter sound at the beginning of the word. I must match pictures to the correct letter sound at the end of the word. MOST I should find and read words which have double letters. SOME I should identify words which have more than one syllable. CHALLENGE I could read the pirate sentence accurately and follow the instructions.

Y2, 3, 4. Booklet about glossaries. Can be used as a stand- alone lesson on glossaries or as part of a topic on Norman Castles. Also useful as an assessment following work on glossaries. The glossary activities are organised into a short workbook. Learning objectives: To know that a glossary is an alphabetical list of words with definitions found in a non-fiction book. To recognise the difference between a word and a definition . To put words in alphabetical order. To match words about castles to the correct definitions. Page 1 Offers pupils a selection of vocabulary relating to Norman castles and asks them to select four words to order alphabetically and set out as a glossary. Page 2 Questions about the key vocabulary and glossary. At the end of the booklet there is a set of 12 ‘castle’ glossary cards with a description for the pupils to cut out and order into alphabetical order.

YR/ KS1 beachcomber treasure hunt. Learning objectives: I can identify objects found on a beach. I can use a tally to record and total my results. Pupils record as many of the pictured objects as the see in tally form and total up their scores at the end of the treasure hunt. There are eight beach items to find (limpet, starfish, crab, driftwood, clam shell, pebbles, feather, seaweed). Fun as an ongoing or a timed activity where pupils can work individually, in pairs or in a group.
